UNSCHOOLERS PLATFORM – FUNSHOP SCHEDULE 2017
HELD IN THE MARATHON ROOM

 

TUESDAY

9:30A – 10:30A
DOOR DECORATIONS – Come on out and create something special for your hotel room door! Let people know who you are, where you’re from and that you are with the UP conference! A fun way to know where each of our friends are staying, and see our families’ fun personalities! Come get your creative juices flowing in this FUN door decorations funshop!!!

 

10:45A – 11:45A
ICE-BREAKER GAMES FOR TWEENS – Ages 10 and up, come join in some low-key, low-pressure games to help you meet each other. Don’t worry…you don’t have to give a speech about yourself to the whole group! These games will be parent-led and active so that everyone is moving around and involved.

 

2P – 3P
TEEN SPEED FRIENDING – Teens 12 yrs on up come on out and enjoy an afternoon of making new friends and strengthening the old! Unschooled teen, Kaidin Jarjusey will kick off the get-to-know you portion of the conference with a real fun hour together! (Meet in the Marathon Room, but may migrate to another part of the hotel.)

 
CREATIVE COLORING & MANDALAS: Join Barb Splett for Mandala fun and creativity! Coloring pages and mandalas will be provided, as well as colored pencils, markers and crayons. Just bring your creative spirit!

 

3:15P – 4:15P
VALENTINES FUN! – Canvas Stitch Lovebug Valentine bookmarks (it’s basically cross stitch with yarn on larger plastic canvas – great math graphing skill and fun craft).  Supplies provided.

It’s Valentine’s Day!!! Seek out the standing craft table and make valentines for your friends!

 

 

WEDNESDAY

9:30A – 10:30A

SQUIGGLES FOR ALL AGES – Combination of creative drawing and writing and will show how to adapt the activities to most any age/skill level.

 

10:45A – 11:45A

BALLOON PUMP & TWIST – Come learn basic balloon twisting techniques from a non-expert…squeal in delight with us as we magically transform air, latex and moods!!!  fun for the WHOLE FAMILY!!!

 

2P – 3P
TEEN GAMES – Join unschooling teen Kaidin Jarjusey for a laid-back hour of multiple FUN games! (Meet in the Marathon Room, but may migrate to another part of the hotel.)

 

3:15P – 4:15P
PERLER BEAD CRAFTING BENCH – Join crafty perlers Dominique and Jasper as they get their beads perling and the irons hot! Come share in the passion of creating with perler beads, or come and check out a new craft! Bring your own supplies to use. Supplies to contribute/share, or please come with suggested donation for supplies ($1 per beading artist).

 

 

THURSDAY

9:30A – 10:30A
YARN HOUR – Come learn the fun and easy art of finger knitting!  Learn to make necklaces, headbands, scarves and whatever your imagination can dream up.  We’ll provide the practice yarn, you provide the fingers.  (You can also bring your own yarn, or if you decide to keep your practice yarn you can buy it for $5.)  Already a yarn crafter?  Bring your favorite knit, crochet or other project to work on while you enjoy good company and conversation.

ARTIST TRADING CARDS MAKE AND TRADE – Artist Trading Cards (ATCs)  are self-made unique works or small series, signed and dated on the reverse by the artist/producer, exchanged and collected by the people who participate in the collaborative performance. We will have materials available to make cards, but also feel free to bring cards you have already made, and trade with others. ATCs are 2.5 in x 3.5 in and can be any mediuim. Fabric, plastic, paper, collage, paint, pen, marker, etc. Be creative! Consider bringing some with a Valentine Theme, to trade or give away! Sign the back of your cards, include your email if you like. (Led by Nancy and Zibby Machaj, mother daughter ATC making duo.)

 

2P – 3P
HOMEMADE LAVA LAMPS – Bring your empty plastic water bottle and come get the lava juices flowing! Join rockin’ mama Vicki as she helps the young at heart make lava lamps. (Bring bottle if you are able, all other supplies provided.)

 

3:15P – 4:15P
DOLL PLAYTIME – Bring your Our Generation doll or American Girl doll (or really, any doll at all) to play with old and new friends. Hosted by Kami (age 9) and Calla (age 6) and their favorite Our Generation dolls. We’ll do a short getting-to-know-each-other at the beginning and then playtime together.

 

MANGA DRAWING – Love to draw? Now how to draw Manga? Want to learn some basics? Join unschooled teen Dahlia Jarjusey for an hour of sharing in the fun art of Japanese cartooning. Paper and pencils provided, or if you’re experienced, bring your own supplies. (Meet in the Marathon Room, but may migrate to another part of the hotel.)
